2/13/2009 - WESTERN NEW YORK LOSES A FINE INDIVIDUAL TO CANCER.
Fredonia Firefighter Dale VanValkenburg passed away peacefully Wednesday February 11th, 2009 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk after his courageous struggle with brain cancer. Many in the fire service know Dale for his countless hours spent with Fire Prevention, touring with Sparky's House of Safety. Dale was a member of the J.S. Lambert Hook and Ladder Company, and had previously held the position of President in the company. Dale served the fire department and was the chairman of the Fire Prevention Committee for over 20 years. He was an amazing individual, a great family man and will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and members of the fire service. LINK TO OBSERVER OBITUARY 
3/4/2009 - HOUSE FIRE - 247 EAGLE STREET - FREDONIA
The Fredonia Fire Department responded to a house fire at approximately 2100 hours. Crews found an occupied 2 1/2 story dwelling with fire in the first floor. An interior attack was initiated using (2) 1 3/4" Handlines and a 2 1/2" backup. Engine 14, 12 and Tower 18 responded to the scene and Assistant Chief Kirk Miller reported the cause of the fire as improper disposal of smoking materials. The main body of fire was under control in 19 minutes, and crews cleared the scene in just over an hour.PHOTOS BY PAUL TRIPPY JR. CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE
4/14/2009 - PHOTOS ADDED FROM TWO FREDONIA HOUSE FIRES
On December 8th 2009, at approximately 2000 hours, the Fredonia Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on Ellicott Road near Webster. Brocton Fire Department responded mutual aid with Tanker 201. Crews quickly extinguished the fire in the second floor of the residence. On March 23rd 2009, at approximately 2200 hours, the Fredonia Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on Houghton Street. Crews found fire in the second floor of an occupied 2 1/2 story residence. The fire was quickly extinguished resulting in mimimal damage to the residence. PHOTOS BY PAUL TRIPPY JR. 12/26/2010 - CHRISTMAS DAY STRUCTURE FIRE - CELERON - 25 BOULEVARD AVENUE
At 12:02 a reported apartment building fire at 25 Boulevard Ave in Celeron sent crews from Celeron, Lakewood, Busti, and Jamestown to work on Christmas Day. First arriving unit was Celeron Chief - Car 321, reporting a working fire in a 2 story apartment building. Initial reports stated there was an occupant of the building unaccounted for. First in crews from Celeron and Lakewood began a primary search. The unaccounted occupant was found safe and outside of the structure, and
with deteriorating conditions inside as well as a partial roof callapse crews wer orded out of the building. Crews remained onscene until approximately 15:00 hours. The building was listed as a total loss, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. STORY SUBMITTED TO ECFWIRE.COM,
